Laminate Flooring our clients love

FAQs for Laminate Collections – Lakeshore and Seaside

Laminate flooring has come a long way—and we mean a long way. Gone are the days of flimsy boards that warped at the first sign of moisture or scratched if you looked at them the wrong way. Today’s water resistant laminate is a whole new breed of flooring: stylish, strong, and built to handle real life. These Laminates have an ultra matte finish and provide the look and feel of real wood without the maintenance.

Lakeshore & Seaside are highly water resistant. The products are waterproof through the core and have been tested for spills up to 72 hours, making the products exceptional performers for everyday life. Similarly to other flooring products, these products are NOT flood proof.

For most residential installations, there is no requirement to silicone seal the perimeter or treat the cut edges. Exceptions: for installation in a bathroom, laundry room, or for commercial installation, cut pieces (either end cuts, length cuts or pipe hole cuts) should be sealed with 100% silicone sealant level to the floor surface.

An expansion joint of 7/16” is required around the perimeter and through doorways when applicable. It is also important to note that this is a floating floor and needs to be allowed to do so. It is critical to avoid “pinching” the flooring with baseboards, door casings, or other trim. Cabinets should not be installed on top of these floors.

Lakeshore & Seaside may run 65’ in both directions without a transition required. This includes through doorways in this span. Transitions are still needed when adjoining a different flooring type or in run lengths beyond 65’.

Lakeside has 24 Faces including mirroring; Seaside has 10 Faces including mirroring.

Lakeshore and Seaside should be acclimated for a minimum of 72 hours in the area(s) of installation with the carton ends open.

No, there is not an attached pad. This is by design for two primary reasons:

1. It allows the end user to control the quality of underlayment. We recommend Eco Ultimate Silencer (FPRECOUSA100) for optimal sound dampening and cushioning performance.

2. A separate underlayment with built-in moisture barrier serves as the required moisture barrier without the potential for gapping that can occur with a factory pre-attached pad. The result is higher quality performance.

If the recommended Eco Ultimate Silencer Underlayment is used, then nothing additional is required. If an alternative underlayment is used, then it is the responsibility of the installer and end user to verify that it meets the installation requirements:

“A minimum 6 mil / 0.15mm poly-film as a moisture barrier must be used between concrete subfloor and the flooring.”
— Visqueen 6mil moisture barrier (FPR6MILVBF)

Level to 3/16” in a 10-foot radius.

The space must meet the following requirements:

Lakeshore and Seaside should only be installed in temperature ranges between 65–85°F (18–30°C) and relative humidity between 30–65% before and during installation.

After installation, room temperature must be maintained between 60–85°F (15–30°C) and RH between 30–65% at all times.

For standard installation applications, 10% is standard. Like Tile, an extra carton left to the end user is recommended.

There are production run dates but no dye lots.

Lakeshore and Seaside are extremely scratch resistant, making them great options for pet owners. In addition, the water resistance properties can manage those occasional pet accidents.
